Air Rescue Commission - Recommendation 0005 - Helicopter Rescue Equipment (Issued 1996, Revised 2009 and 2016)

  1. ICAR strongly recommends to equip any helicopter dedicated to air rescue with a:

    a. RESCUEHOIST (min.2 person load),  and/or
    b. DOUBLE ATTACHMENT POINT SYSTEM for HEC fixed line operations.

  2. The pilot has the final word in approving the on-board equipment he decides to operate.

  3. The pilot and the on-board rescuer (chief, leader) should collaborate to determine tactics and/or techniques to be used.
