Bolts are vital anchor points, not only for climbers but also for rescue operations.
It is therefore important to know how to handle bolts if they have not been placed by the rescue organisation itself.
Here you will find the initial findings of the SAFECOM investigation into the bolts on Kalymnos, which relate to a fatal accident on the island, a popular destination amongst climbers.
ICAR is a member of UIAA SAFECOM and participates in several of its working groups to represent the perspective of mountain rescue.
