ICAR 2016 Convention - Review

23 Oct 2016

ICAR - Romania

ICAR 2016 marked the first ICAR Congress held In Bulgaria, with 343 persons in attendance representing 33 countries from all over of the world. The venue in Borovets, amidst the century old pine forests at the foot of Mussala - the highest peak of Bulgaria, was both scenic and well suited to the needs to the congress.

The Practical Day (Pre-Conference Workshop) was attended by 236 of the delegates, was a great success due to the well balanced cooperation between the leadership of Dominique Létang, President of the ICAR Avalanche Rescue Commission (France), the organizational efforts of Manuel Genswein (Switzerland) and the teamwork of the leading instructors.

The main activities of the Congress were held within Samokov hotel and were supported by the 17 partners of ICAR. Of significance was the reelection of the ICAR Executive Board, a clear sign for the support of ICAR`s sustainable development as the world platform for mountain rescue.
